Katherine King, Psy.D. is a licensed psychologist and assistant professor at William James College in their clinical psychology doctoral program. She has advanced specialized training in geropsychology and specific interests in adult development and aging, couples across the lifespan, illness adjustment, and end-of-life. Dr. King is an LGBTQIA-friendly clinician and treats adults and older adults with a range of presenting concerns including depression, anxiety, grief, adjustment, and relationship problems. Her research interests include childlessness, marital satisfaction among older couples, yoga for cancer survivors, and the use of creative writing in reminiscence interventions.
Dr. King has worked and trained in a variety of settings including psychiatric inpatient adult and geriatric units, geriatric partial hospitalization, integrated behavioral health, palliative and hospice care, skilled nursing, home-based primary care, elder protective services, and outpatient practice. She completed an internship at Bedford VAMC and a postdoctoral fellowship in geropsychology at VA Boston Healthcare System. As a past massage therapist and yoga teacher, her work is informed by a healthy respect for the mind-body connection. She is an advanced vajrayana student and authorized guide in the Shambhala Buddhist tradition and an avid runner, writer, and artist.
