Susan is a clinical psychologist. She received a degree in Comparative Religion from Harvard Divinity School, her doctorate in Psychology from Harvard University, and her clinical training through Harvard Medical School. She has been a clinician, supervisor, and Instructor in Psychology at Harvard Medical School for over 20 years, specializing in the integration of meditation and psychotherapy. She is a founding member of the Center for Mindfulness and Compassion at Cambridge Health Alliance. Dr. Pollak has had a meditation and yoga practice since childhood. She is the co-editor, with Merry White, of The Cultural Transition (Routledge & Kegan Paul), contributing author to Mapping the Moral Domain, ed. Carol Gilligan, (Harvard Press), a contributing author to Evocative Objects, ed. Sherry Turkle (MIT Press), a contributing author to Mindfulness and Psychotherapy, Second Edition (Guilford Press), and co-editor, with Tom Pedulla and Ron Seigel, of Sitting Together: Essential Skills for Mindfulness Based Psychotherapy (Guilford Press).
