Join Us April 21: The Buddha – The First Psychologist, with Andrew Olendzki

What can we learn from the first psychologist?

Join us Monday, April 21 from 1:00–2:30 PM for a special online gathering with Buddhist scholar and 20-year veteran of IMP Andrew Olendzki. Andrew will introduce BuddhaWord, a new meditation app built on the original teachings of the historical Buddha—teachings that approach mental suffering not just spiritually, but as a science of the mind.

Meditation is a tool for the direct empirical observation and investigation of the mind, with the goal of alleviating mental suffering. The historical Buddha provides guidance for how to do this in a particular way, and his words are now available in a new meditation app called BuddhaWord. Andrew, the creator of this tool, will describe how following classical meditation instructions unlocks important insights and provide the modern psychologist with a valuable source of wisdom.

Andrew Olendzki is a professor at Lesley University in Cambridge, MA and director of Lesley’s Mindfulness Studies graduate program. He is the author of Unlimiting Mind (Wisdom 2010) and Untangling Self (Wisdom 2016).
